15 Photos, 1 Location EP.1 - Tynemouth

At the back end of 2023 I decided to make my way up the North East coastline, limiting myself to 15 photos only at each location. Not only did this give me the challenge of trying to produce 15 new photos in places I have spent a lot of time in over the years, but also to stop off at parts of the coastline I have overlooked or never walked before.

EP1 - TYNEMOUTH

Tynemouth often needs no introduction, however it was the inspiration behind this series. Heading there for what felt like the 100th time was when I decided to limit myself to 15 photos. It’s easy to think you have over photographed a location but even easier to see how much you still have left to capture in places that are forever changing. Doing the same walk, a week, a month or a year later will always yield you different results, especially as you grow and mature as a photographer.

Tynemouth sits on the north bank of the River Tyne, known for its beautiful beaches dominated by the ruins of Tynemouth Priory and Castle. Tynemouth boasts a vibrant atmosphere with great restaurants, shops, and a lively market on Sundays in the local metro station. Searching for distant figures and interesting framing opportunities in this session left me eager to repeat the exercise further up the coastline. All of the photos in this session were taken on the A7IV paired with the 50mm 1.8.

The video version of this episode can be found below with POV behind the scenes footage of me taking these 15 images.
