15 Photos, 1 Location EP.5 - Amble

A charming port town on Northumberland's North Sea coast, nicknamed "the friendliest port in England," Amble’s harbour is filled with colourful beach huts and fresh seafood stalls, hidden around the corner from the harbour Amble also has its own beach if walking the sands is what you’re looking for.

EP5 - AMBLE

I started the day hoping for some dramatic seascapes, but as the conditions got a lot greyer and duller, I switched to focusing on little details and remaining signs of the harbours modern day use.

Having visited a few times before on bright blue days, I went on the hunt for a few scenes that might look nice in black and white while also trying to capture a new take on subjects I have photographed in the past. Winter is always a great time to try out or focus on black and white photography as theres obviously a lot less colour about. The winter months feel as though they last forever in England, and continually trying to come up with new ideas, new places or different things to photograph throughout winter when the English landscape is so grey, can be a bit of an inspiration killer (even when you’re lucky enough to live on the border of Northumberland) - However flipping to switch on that and instead reminding yourself of locations you have only ever shot in the brighter months can open your eyes once more.
